Progress Report.

Coursework continues to pile up, but ive made some progress (and a couple of mistakes)

This lovely brute is a Fomoroid Crusher, and will likely end up being a unit filler (I initially bought him to be a giant, but hes a bit scrawny for that).

He was painted in a similar manner to the PBK's from earlier, but you may notice his shiny black shoulder pad, an attempt at using an ink I had recently acquired. While I am not too displeased with how it looks, and it worked fine on the hair too, the ink is far more opaque than I had realized, and is not very suitable in the way I invisioned using it (as a shade). I may have to try it with an airbrush if I ever get the time. The ink also dries glossy, which gives models a very oily look (as you will see later)

Afted a few painting sessions of armor, dirty white and grey, I wanted a break. And to this end I started with one of the elvish spellsinger models I had lying about the place. Despite her unfortunate facial deformity (its not symmetric, im not sure if this is due to it actually being a recast if poor quality or if this is just GW's infamous talent with ladies at hand) the model looks rather nice, something I hope not to ruin too thoroughly with my paint job.

One thing that did end up being ratehr tricky with the model is doing the insides of the clothing, since with a white primer it ended up looking a bit weird. I also intially tried to paint the model using primarily washes, but in the end I relented and tried out some of my new paints (scale 75 blues). On the whole I am rather pleased with how this lass is doing, something I cant say for my unfortunate test of the ink.

This poor fellow might be heading for a stripping (shouldnt be too bad, hes metal). I was testing out a potential color scheme for his unit (my chosen, youve seen them before if you read my older posts) and I tried to copy Massive Voodoo's brilliant rusty chaos lord, unfortunately I am not very skilled with rust and the final result didnt turn out particularly great, and my curious try with ink didnt improve things much either! Still, painting him was a learning experience (which is how I shall classify a chariot I also started painting alongside him, the poor thing is in too sorry a state for me to dare show, and its going to be harder to strop too!) and hopefully I can get the hang of rust effects ("grimdark style" painting (using grime, rust and ink and so on, technical effects) somewhat appeals to be, both due to its aesthetic and promise to relieve my incompetence as a painter, so I will definitely be giving it another try down the road!).
