The Hexed.

My chaos knight regiment is finally complete. They dont quite rank up so I couldnt get the exact sort of group photo I wanted.  Thankfully the individual pictures are better: The standard bearer: Musician:   Champion (you've allready seen this one): And the rank and file: This post may have come off as a bit long, but Im pleased with how the whole squad turned out. Dont expect to see individual photo's for every single chaos warrior though.

Fun with odds and ends.

One (rather literal) necessity of a chaos army are chaos spawn, those unmentionable horrors that give you an excuse to throw whatever you have in your bitz-box at a lump of green stuff and call it a day. Theyre an iconic part of the chaos arsenal, and despite being rather sub-par on the tabletop the eye of the gods chart makes having a couple on hand rather important. Despite this, to my moderate shame (in part at not simply making some) I have never had any. But, while taking a break from painting The Hexed (which are still in progress worry not) to assemble some recently arrived models (which I will most definetly show off at a later date) I decided to cobble together some custom spawn for my army. Spawn 1: "Headbutt".   Ironically he was the last spawn I made, his "head" is the Minotaur skull from the citadel skull kit, with the visage augmented with a whole bunch more skulls attached where his limbs should be. Spawn 2: "Horse face". Im quite please wit...

Second verse same as the first.

The champion for my chaos knight regiment (The Hexed) is finished. Unlike the other riders he has a lance and horns to give him some verticality and help him stand out among his peers. In addition I decided to play with the colors on the details, since with such a uniform armor scheme its easy for models to end up looking samey. As such his horse is a brown (in contrast to the previous riders dark grey/black charger) and the reins are a beige/white with some blood stains on) Overall I am fairly happy with how the model turned out, and I look forwards to having the full regiment painted up and assembled in formation,

Mr Monday.

While waiting for some deliveries I have worked on my chaos knights, and I am happy to present the first finished model (#1 of 7). While I am unable to provide full pictures for the process due to the models being started before the blog I hope you enjoy the finished product. The models were primarily painted using an excellent tutorial I found online ( https://borgninespainting.blogspot.com/2019/04/rusted-armor-statues-tutorial.html ) Typhus corrosion was used to dull the metal somewhat after my washes gave it an oily look and I didnt quite get the rust effects down so I decided to forgo them, maybe next time (hellcannon perhaps?) Overall I am rather happy with how the metal turned out, its exactly the sort of muted and drab color scheme I was going for. and in my opinion the bright blue of the Ensorcelled Weapon helps give the model a nice visual focus and will serve to tie the regiment to my army. The further members of the regiment (and their fluff) will be posted soon.
