Mad cow disease.

Minotaurs are one of the iconic fantasy monsters, and for good reason (theyre cool). This has naturally lead to them having lots of different models from various sources, but unfortunately both iterations made by GW failed to scratch my itch when it came to these bovine behemoths.

Not a fan of the musculature or the poses, still, I suppose it would have been nice to have more bitz.

LOOK AT IT. Its at home in a kids cartoon, not a battlefield. Also note the derpy teeth consistent in both iterations.

Thankfully however zealot miniatures produce absolutely stunning models, ones that fit the aesthetic of warhammer perfectly while also looking stunningly good in general (theyre so good even my sloppy painting didnt ruin them).

So, without further ado, let me present my big minotaur lord.

The model was an absolute JOY to work on. After my previous work (the chaos knights of The Hexed) the abundance of flesh and the rough, coarse armor was a breath of fresh air. And the level of detail on this model was simply breathtaking (my shoddy camera skills failed to do it justice).

While I initially went for a paler, more pink/humanoid flesh look (a second attempt at which you will see next week) the flesh tones used ended up being more tanned, so I improvised.

The armor used a similar technique to that which I employed with the chaos knights (wet blend warplock bronze and boltgun metal, slather with washes and typhus corrosion, drybrush with metal) and should hopefully serve as a decent way to tie him into the rest of the army (much of which will sport a similar dark metal look)

One thing that may not be conveyed by my images is the sheer size of this fellow. He stands taller than cavalry and sits on a 50x50mm base (which he fills out nicely), so rather than the general of a minotaur/chaos ogre unit he will likely be used as a demon prince stand in or perhaps a Shaggoth. He certainly looks like he should have the stats of one.
